The doctor's surgeries are held by appointment from 8.30am to 11am and from 3pm to 6pm each weekday.  The average time for an appointment is 10 minutes.

We aim to see patients within 30 minutes of the appointment time or provide an explanation for the delay. Appointments are set aside daily (usually at 11.30am) for urgent problems, but you may not be able to see your usual doctor at that time. If you feel the problem is urgent, please let reception staff know.

Urgent appointments are generally shorter than routine appointments and patients are asked to limit the consultation where possible to their main problem.  Please make a separate appointment for each person. If you are unable to keep your appointment, please inform the surgery as soon as possible to enable the appointment to be offered to another patient.

Evening and Saturday Appointments

Are currently available on Tuesday and Thursday from 6.30pm - 8.oopm and Saturday from 8.00am - 11.30am.  These are pre-booked appointments aimed at Workers and Commuters who cannot attend at other times.  Anyone requiring emergency care or a home visit during these times should contact teh Out of Hours Service on 08450 450281.

Practice Nurse appointments are held from 8.30am to 12.30pm and 2pm to 6pm weekdays. Appointments can be made to see the nurse by contacting reception.

When the Surgery is Closed

When the surgery is closed an 'answer' 'phone will give you the number of the emergency out of hours service.  This may be at Stamford or Grantham. Your call will be taken by a receptionist who will ask you for the following information:

  • Patient's name & Address (including your postcode)

Your call will either be put through to the duty doctor/duty nurse or arrangements made for him/her to telephone you back, if he/she is otherwise engaged. When you contact the service one of the following will happen:

a) You may be given advice by a doctor or nurse over the telephone,

b) You may be asked to attend a Centre

c) A doctor/nurse may visit you at home

d) If necessary, an emergency ambulance may be called

This means with your approval, we could arrange for you to have your medicine made up and available for you to collect at the surgery. You would order your medicines as you do now, allowing us 2-3 working days to order them in for you.  Please inform our reception staff if you would like us to do this for you. Unfortunately NHS regulations prevent us routinely dispensing to those patients who live in Stamford itself.

The dispensary is open - Monday to Friday 8.30am - 6.30pm.

If you have a regular prescription you may request a repeat of it by telephoning our dispensary between 8.30am-6.30pm Monday to Friday. (Telephone Number 0844 4996624). Alternatively, you may leave the tear off slip, attached to your computer printed prescription, at dispensary reception. Please allow two working days before collecting your prescription. If you wish to receive your prescriptions by post, please enclose a stamped addressed envelope.

Do you need a Chaperone?

Our doctors and nurses take the utmost care to respect personal dignity and confidentiality. However if you require a chaperone for your physical examination, please inform a member of the surgery team at the time of your appointment.
